About

Jenna Pratt is an accomplished music composer and pianist based in Sydney, Australia, celebrated for her ability to create enchanting melodies and evocative soundscapes. Specialising in compositions for film, television, and games, Jenna is an alumnus of both JMC Academy and AFTRS.

 

Her impressive body of work includes scoring several short films, notably Magnetic, which premiered at the Sydney Film Festival, and Toyboy, for which she received a nomination for Best Original Score at the Made in the West Festival.

 

In addition to her significant contributions to short films and video games, Jenna's music is featured across various Australian networks, including ABC, Seven, Foxtel, and SBS. Her compositions have enhanced notable television programs such as Stan's The Ben Robert-Smith: Truth On Trial, The Great Australian Bake Off, and Close Encounters Down Under.

 

Jenna's commitment to her craft and passion for storytelling through music set her apart as a remarkable composer in the Australian music scene. With every piece she creates, she strives to evoke emotions, enrich narratives, and engage audiences, showcasing her extraordinary talent and leaving a lasting impression on every project.

In 2024, Jenna completed a WIM Mentorship with Caitlin Yeo, participated in APRA AMCOS's High Score Songhubs, and continued to have her music featured on TV shows worldwide. She recently co-composed the score for Murder Down Under (Perpetual Entertainment) and is composing music for a video game scheduled for release in 2026. When she's not composing, Jenna volunteers with the AGSC's Gender Equity Committee, plays piano with her devoted cat Jax by her side, and enjoys immersing herself in psychological thrillers.

As a female director, I am always searching to support and collaborate with other incredible female creatives and it is without a doubt that Jenna is one of them. I collaborated with Jenna on my debut short film Run, Baby and found our collaboration so enriching in my journey as a filmmaker. Jenna brought such a breadth of knowledge, she was inquisitive, dedicated, meticulous and communicative from the moment I reached out to her. 

 

The score for Run, Baby blew me away. Jenna's ability to hone in and musically interpret the vision was astounding and chilling. As a director, I don't typically use temp music but rather composers and music that acts as a starting point and Jenna was able to use that and expand, explore and create something so unique to the film's subject matter.

 

Jenna has a vast understanding of instruments and their emotional connotations and she knows how to find balance in her compositions. She isn’t afraid to show restraint and she doesn’t shy away from making bold choices. It was such a rewarding experience to collaborate with her, and honestly, after her first pass, I knew Jenna would elevate my film to such heights with respect, integrity and innovation.
